Everything we Know About Fallout 3 Remastered Announcement, Release Period & More

We first learned of Fallout 3 Remastered in 2023, and recent reports indicate the project is progressing. Its release, official announcement, and much more are the subject of intense scrutiny by fans eager to enter an irradiated Washington again.

Remakes and remasters aren’t going anywhere, so we should embrace them. Bethesda fans are eating good as the Oblivion Remaster is likely locked in for 2025, and talk of the Fallout 3 Remaster is also heating up. An FTC leak first gave the world a glimmer of hope that the remaster was happening.

However, recent reports seem to corroborate that the remaster still exists and is in development.

Is Fallout 3 Remastered Confirmed?

Like most things, Fallout 3 Remastered isn’t officially confirmed, but various leaks and reports suggest very strongly it‘s a question of when, not if.

With the Oblivion Remaster dominating gaming headlines in April 2025, Fallout 3 popped up again. The post-apocalyptic title is many people’s favorite in the series (mine included), and it would be a welcome bump of nostalgia. It would also remind us why Microsoft was desperate to acquire Bethesda for $7.5 billion.

Does Fallout 3 Remastered Have a Release Date?

With no official Fallout 3 Remastered announcement, it means an official release date—or release period—is out of the question for the time being.

I’m just as excited about the remaster as you are, but we might be waiting a while. Notorious leaker NateTheHate2 was quizzed on Fallout 3’s existence, and he gave an encouraging but equally disappointing response: “It’ll be a while before we see it.

If we have Oblivion Remastered to keep us ticking over until then, it can soften the blow, and eventually, we can make the pain go away with remastered Rad-A-Way.

What to Expect From Fallout 3 Remastered

As it’s a remaster, it would be wise to expect a fairly like-for-like reimagining, but with some modern revisions to gameplay, and a wonderful touching up of the visuals.

Improved lighting, detailed textures, realistic shadows, and accurate environmental physics are all part and parcel of a good remaster. A fully fledged remaster will surely adhere to these conventions.

Plus, it would be rude of Bethesda not to throw in all the DLC:

  • Operation: Anchorage
  • The Pitt
  • Broken Steel
  • Point Lookout
  • Mothership Zeta

Are you an Elder Scrolls or Fallout kind of person? Do you have a preference? I think we’d all love to see Fallout 3 Remastered, and it would be a nice reference point for anyone watching the TV series.
