In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the lands of Ashenfall are dangerous and filled with dozens of secret quests to complete. But if players follow the main quest line, Dragon Slayer, things might get tricky, and it’s easy to get lost since there’s no exact quest marker, but a general area where you need to look for each step.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds – How to get Hunter’s Stagbow
Here’s how to get the definitive Tier 4 Bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds: The Hunter’s Stagbow.
So, to make things easier for players, this guide includes all the hidden information the game doesn’t tell them about, including pinpointed locations for quest items, where to go, and key places to visit. Let’s start with how to trigger the main quest of RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
How To Start Dragon Slayer In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
To start this quest, players need to travel to Bramblemead Valley and look for a ruined structure similar to a tower. That’s where the Wise Old Man is, who will inform the players about the need to slay Velgar (the poisonous giant dragon harassing them from the moment they set foot in the valley). But first, they need to build a shelter.
Crafting a simple structure and some walls might be enough for now, but players should use this spot as a base of operations, since they will need to return often, and once they unlock teleport, it will be easy to move around and return. Plus, the area doesn’t have High Tier enemy raids, which are quite annoying. Only goblins come to attack the player, so the first step should be completed around this zone to ease things up.

Next, players will need to get themselves some utilities: Crafting benches, Cooking Pot, and hunt down some deer using a bow. To craft a bow, they need to craft the Spinning Wheel and some Thread. After players get a bow and some arrows, it is time to get the Wise old man some Antlers to cast a tracking spell. Deer are almost everywhere around Bramblemead Valley and Temple Woods, so it won’t be so hard to get a couple of Antlers in no time.
Now, return to Wise Old Man to deliver the Antlers. He will tell players that the next step in this quest is to track down Cathan, an adventurer who was part of the expedition and decided to face Velgar alone. To start this part of the quest, travel to the middle area of Bramblemead Valley. Be careful, though, as the area is filled with Goblin Bruisers, Archers, and Warriors.
Ascend to the top of the castle and look for a Lore Object at the top of it: It’s a blue glowing book, there’s no way to miss it. After reading it, a message will read: “The Air Seems Gloom With Dread. Velgar descends upon the Fortress.” The dragon will then land on the Fortress’ gate, and players will need to run for their lives.
How To Find The Swamp Vault & Cathan’s Trail
After surviving the dragon attack, players will notice the quest Marker points to an area north. They need to return to base, resupply, and prepare for a long expedition through the Whispering Swamp to continue this quest. Now, the quest marker points to a general area of the swamp (the eastern middle section of the map), but the exact place they need to search for is the Dragonkin Vault: a blue glowing door that hides a dungeon left by the ruling race of these lands eons ago.
Travel to the swamp, but mind the goblin archers and Giant Rotten Rats that can land the annoying poison status. Players can also try crafting the Antipoison Potion and the Fortifying Crunchies using the mats available in the Swamp.
Once players have located the Vault, they should enter and prepare for a tough fight. Vault Guardians, Sentinels, and even an Archon lie waiting there for them. Transit across the trap-ridden hallways following the goblin corpses until finding a hidden room on the northeastern side. There’s a dying Goblin there, speak to him to follow Cathan’s trail.
There’s a hidden room on the opposite side of the hallway that hides the Anti-Dragon Shield recipe. Don’t forget to pick it up before talking to the Goblin NPC.
How To Find Cathan In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Apparently, Cathan tricked the goblins, and this ended poorly for them. Now, he is headed for the Fractured Plains, a place known as the Gornfell. Players should return to base once more to resupply, craft Tier 2 equipment, and prepare lots of potions and materials to build a Lodestone to teleport (in case they die and need to go back to pick up their loot).
Fractured Plains is the land just above the Whispering Swamp, and players need to access the swamp through the western section to be able to go across it. Once players arrive at this new area, they should look for a safe spot to place their Lodestone, so they can teleport later. Following the trail of goblins in the path, players will probably face Wolves (which are quite annoying) and meet their first Garou enemies: Bulky, wolf-like humanoids that really pack a punch.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds – Goblin Swingslash Recipe Location
The Goblin Swingslash is one of the strongest Tier 2 weapons you can find in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and here’s how to get it.
The exact spot where players need to search is the Obelisk in the middle of the Fractured Plains. Travel there with extreme care, and mind the Garou, Terrorbirds, Wolves, and Dire Wolves roaming around.
Cathan is located across the bridge that leads to the Obelisk/Tower, but to access it, players will have to fight a Garou Thane. This monstrous enemy has an enormous shield that prevents damage, and players need to break their guard to cause damage to him.
Once players have defeated him, they can go ahead and speak with Cathan’s Ghost, who lies waiting at the foot of the Obelisk, across the bridge.
The best approach to defeat the Garou Thane is to shoot arrows from a safe distance and avoid engaging him in melee, since he can delete players in one single swing of his mighty axe. If players are lucky, it will drop the recipe for Thane’s Authority, the most powerful battle axe in the game.
How To Craft Challenge Horn
After speaking to Cathan’s Ghost, players will now have their final task before facing Velgar at the top of the Tower in Fractured Plains. But to do that, they need to craft the Challenge Horn, a Quest Item needed to make Velgar face players in direct combat.
But before getting the materials needed to craft the Horn, players should increase their Tier Level to 4. That means they will need the Iron Pickaxe and Iron Logging Axe, and to farm lots of materials starting with Iron Ore from the Stormtouched Highlands.
So, travel there and mine some ore, watching out for the enemies like Garou, Dire Wolves, and the especially dangerous Shocking Plants and Garou Berserkers. After getting enough Iron Ore to craft the Iron Pickaxe and Iron Logging Axe, players should be clear to obtain the two Special Resources they need to craft the Challenge Horn, and face Velgar.
How To Get Bloodwood Sap
To get the Bloodwood Sap, players need to travel to the Bloodblight Swamp area, and remember to carry Antipoison Potions they will need several of them to reach the area where the Bloodwood Tree is growing, which is a structure located in the Southeastern end of the map, inside a fortress protected by Tier 3 Garou enemies: Berserkers, Archers, Druids, and the powerful Thanes.
Once players make it to the top of the fortress and locate the huge gnarling tree that has some protrusions, players need to cut down using the Iron Logging Axe to extract the Bloodwood Sap. Currently, this is the only place where players can extract this element, so make sure to get the most out of it by using the Axtral Projection Spell from Woodcutting.

How To Get Dragon Tooth
Dragon Tooth can be mined using the Iron Pickaxe from a series of bones located in the most dangerous region (currently available) of Ashenfall: The Stormtouched Highlands. Players should prepare lots of potions, food, and a Lodestone Teleporter before proceeding, and also: Make sure to have at least a Tier 4 weapon and basic Tier 4 armor.
Then head to the middle of the Stormtouched Highlands, and follow the dragon bones until finding the spot indicated in the image above. Then, get the Pickaxe and mine the Dragon Tooth from the lower jaw of the dead beast.
How To Get Bronze Bars
Bronze Bars are obtained by smelting Tin Ore and Copper Ore together. Tin Ore and Copper Ore can be mined from the Fractured Plains and are lying around the walls, the mountains, and mostly everywhere.
Players will need 5x Bronze Bars to craft the Challenge Horn, which means 15x Tin Ore and 15x Copper Ore put together in the Smelter. Once players have all the mats, they can use the Smithing Anvil to craft the Horn, and ready themselves for the battle of their lifetime.
How To Summon And Beat Velgar In RuneScape: Dragonwilds
With the Challenge Horn crafted, travel to Velgar’s High (The Obelisk in the middle of Fractured Plains) and go through the big door to reach the top of the structure and find the pedestal to place the Horn. Now, select the first option to call Velgar and begin the battle.
Velgar has three different attacks players should be aware of:
- Ground Slam/Spikes: The dragon slams the ground in front of it with its claw, crushing players who are not covered using Wind Shield and stunning them. Then, spikes sprout out of the ground and track the nearest players, striking twice and slowing them down. In each phase, after Velgar takes flight and returns, the Spikes grow in number.
- Poison Breath: Velgar uses his poison breath to cause severe damage and poison the players. If they are buffed by the effects of Antipoison Potion and Anti-Poison Food, the damage will be minimal, and they will avoid the DoT effect.
- Poison Meteors: Velgar takes flight and starts to summon poison meteors that rain from the sky. Dodging them and the puddles they create will minimize or negate the damage.
Once players defeat this beast, they should return to the Wise Old Man for their rewards: the Tome of The Dragonslayer, which grants 500 Exp for Ranged, Magic, and Attack, the Dragonblight Shield blueprint, which is crafted using the Anti-Dragon shield and the Dragon Visage (also rewarded from delivering Valgar’s head to the Wise Old Man).
And there it is! Players have completed the end-game challenge of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Still, there are dozens of secrets to explore, and soon, devs will bring even more content for this awesome survival game.
