When it finally does release, it now seems that the remastered Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion will take up quite a bit of space.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Oblivion Remastered leaks. After leaked images from official sources confirmed that the game is real, Xbox Support potentially revealed Oblivion Remastered‘s release date of April 21, 2025, which many had already expected because of previous rumors about the launch window. That day has now come, and the Oblivion remaster still isn’t out at the time of writing, but there’s still time for it. In the meantime, fans may want to clear some drive space to make way for the game if the latest leak is true.

Skyblivion Lead Weighs in on Official Oblivion Remaster

The project lead of the upcoming Skyblivion mod addresses the increasingly likely possibility of an official Oblivion remaster coming out soon.

Leaker X0XLEAK took to Twitter on April 20 to claim that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered will take up a whopping 120 GB. A follow-up tweet showed a screenshot of a datamined Steam listing, showcasing a 120.94 GB download size. Previous rumors have suggested that Oblivion Remastered will include all the original DLC, and that seems increasingly likely in light of such a massive file size. For reference, Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition, which came out in 2007 and featured the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, sits at just 4.6 GB. That makes this newer version more than 26 times larger than the original if it’s as big as this leak suggests.

Oblivion Remastered Will Reportedly Take Up 120 GB

A 120 GB file size is not anything unheard of in today’s environment, but it is still notable. That would make the Oblivion remaster significantly larger than some modern-day RPGs. Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed takes up nearly 75 GB, which is less than two-thirds the size of the rumored Oblivion Remastered download. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which includes all three original Mass Effect titles and over 40 DLC, clocks in at 110 GB, still 10 GB shy of the long-rumored Oblivion remaster.

With such a massive rumored file size, Oblivion Remastered could boast quite the visual improvement over the original and other Elder Scrolls games. Regardless of its size and scope, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to dive into the game. Some Steam users report that Oblivion Remastered is already appearing in their libraries, and previous leaks and rumors point to this week, if not today, for its release.
