Nintendo Switch Online Adds Classic Fire Emblem Title

Nintendo Switch Online has added Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to the subscription service’s growing Game Boy Advance library, which is accessible to Expansion Pack tier members. By signing up for Nintendo Switch Online, subscribers can play Nintendo Switch games with friends online and enjoy an evolving lineup of retro games from older consoles, including the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis.

Two tiers of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service are available. For 19.99 a year, subscribers get access to the base tier featuring online multiplayer support and classic titles from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy. Gamers can step up to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier, which costs $49.99. Expansion Pack comes with the base Nintendo Switch Online subscription, free DLC for various Nintendo Switch games, and access to Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis games. When Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, Expansion Pack subscribers will also have access to Nintendo GameCube titles on the platform, including The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and F-Zero GX. On Nintendo Switch 2, subscribers will also have access to all the classic games released up to that point, including the newly added Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.

The following year, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones made its way to the US on May 23, 2005, and its arrival on Nintendo Switch Online comes just one month before its 20th anniversary in the west. Expansion Pack subscribers can play the classic Fire Emblem title by opening the Game Boy Advance app on Nintendo Switch and starting up the title from the menu.

Nintendo regularly adds classic titles to Nintendo Switch Online every month, so there will likely be more new additions before the launch of Nintendo Switch 2. Once the new console launches, players can expect Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to join the Expansion Pack tier alongside other GameCube classics such as Chibi-Robo, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Super Mario Sunshine.
