While unconfirmed, Diablo executive producer Rod Fergusson says there seems to be a potential path for a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Diablo 4. In a recent conversation, Fergusson said that there is an “opportunity” to bring Diablo 4 to Nintendo’s upcoming handheld console. The Switch 2 will be getting numerous ports of older games, with Diablo 4 being considered a good fit by both fans and, seemingly, Fergusson himself.
Diablo 4 has enjoyed a fairly consistent string of content updates and overhauls, with developers once again utilizing a season-based system to add new content to the game. Released in the summer of 2023, parts of Diablo 4 look considerably different from what they did on launch day, with the game now featuring new enemies, rewards, storylines, and loot to uncover. Diablo 4 received a brand-new class, the Spiritborn, last year, something that also changed the game significantly. However, with the Switch 2 on the horizon, many fans may be wondering if Diablo 4 will come to the new console, with Rod Fergusson sharing his thoughts and his hopes.

Diablo 4 Season 8 Will Nerf ‘Overpowered’ Builds
Blizzard reveals that some ‘overpowered’ builds will be nerfed in the game’s upcoming Season 8, which will debut later this month.
In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Rod Fergusson, head of all things Diablo, shared some interesting bits of information on Diablo 4, saying there’s “opportunity” for the company to partner with Nintendo for a Switch 2 port of the game. Nothing was confirmed, but Fergusson definitely made it sound like Diablo 4 on the Switch 2 is a possibility. Diablo 3 is available on the Switch, as is Diablo 2: Resurrection. Both games will be playable thanks to backward compatibility on Switch 2, which opens up the door for Diablo 4.
Rod Fergusson Open to Bringing Diablo 4 to the Nintendo Switch 2
Fergusson stated that bringing Diablo 4 to the Switch 2 isn’t so much a hardware thing as it is a logistical problem, saying live service on the Switch has been “challenging.” While not the most demanding game, Diablo 4‘s graphic fidelity and level of detail are the best the series has seen, making it harder to run than the previous games. Performance is one of the Switch 2’s primary focuses, with the handheld console able to play some of today’s most demanding games, even getting its own port of Cyberpunk 2077.
Fergusson said he is hopeful about the Switch 2’s launch this summer, saying the team will watch as the console expands and evolves. The Nintendo Switch 2 officially releases in just a little over two months on June 5, a day that will likely go down in video game history. Diablo 4‘s upcoming season Belial’s Return launches on April 29, adding on to the game’s feature-rich gameplay and combat in a number of ways. Players will be able to encounter new challenges in Apparition Incurisons as they battle Belial, with plenty more content set to follow as Diablo 4‘s life cycle continues. However, only time will tell if this new content will at some point be playable on the Switch 2.
