- Production of Fallout season 2 seems to be wrapping up sooner than expected.
As viewers eagerly wait for the return of Fallout season 2, which has been in development since November, Kyle MacLachlan, who plays Hank MacLean, the father of Lucy and overseer of Vault 33, recently revealed a surprising and exciting development update that will keep impatient fans satisfied a little longer.
Fallout season one was released in April 2023, and, even though many video game adaptations haven’t always done well in the past, the TV series nailed its storytelling elements and compelling characters that made the Bethesda game so successful. Not content with reaching a huge milestone for season one, the series also received 94% from critics and a healthy 91% from fans on Rotten Tomatoes, where some came from Bethesda’s long-running and beloved post-role-playing video game franchise of the same name to witness how the adaptation was handled. Set two hundred years after the apocalypse, Fallout stars Arcane and Yellowjackets actor Ella Purnell, as well as Aaron Moten, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins. With the filming of the new episodes already underway, as seen in behind-the-scenes set locations in New Vegas, it seems as though season 2’s production will wrap up sooner than many had expected.

Kyle MacLachlan Reveals When Fallout Season 2 Should Release
In a podcast interview with the Film issue of Wine Enthusiast Magazine to discuss his passion for wine, the Twin Peaks star touched upon his time on Fallout, more specifically, Season 2. When asked what his plans are now, outside of making wine at his company called Pursued by Bear, Kyle MacLachlan revealed that he had just wrapped up season 2 of Fallout, and he had hopes that it would air towards the end of this year. “We just wrapped Season Two of Fallout. They have a few more weeks to go. I’m hoping that they’ll be able to get it out at the end of the year,” said MacLachlan. He also expressed that Season 2’s release date is “hard to know” as the team is currently editing the returning season, which will take time, as MacLachlan pointed out, but it seems as though fans might get their eyes on it by Christmas time 2025.
This is in contrast to what Walton Goggins, who plays The Ghoul in Fallout, told Complex in an interview only last week, where he stated that the team was “deep into season 2 of Fallout.” It does seem somewhat unrealistic to go from being “deep into” filming a show to then wrapping it all up in less than a week, however, it could very likely be the case that Goggins’ statement meant that they were right at the end of production and over the course of a few days, development on Season 2 was then completed.
In a series of recent images, fans of the show got a sneak peek at the set design for what looked to be a pre-war version of New Vegas. Other leaked images of Fallout Season 2 have included the New Vegas sign, as well as The Tops and Lucky 38. So far, however, there isn’t too much detail regarding Season 2’s story, but now that filming has reportedly wrapped, more information should be disclosed over the next few months.
