Mend your gear to slay your enemies.
While slaying enemies in Oblivion Remastered, you will slowly deteriorate your weapon and armor durability, and you’ll have to find a solution to repair or fix your items.
Oblivion Remastered doesn’t make it clear how to fix your weapon, but it tells you to mend your weapon as they become very inefficient after being broken and having low durability, making them unsuitable for fighting. This makes repairing an important priority. You can do it in a variety of ways and even use a minor Armourer skill to make your repairs better over time.
How to repair items in Oblivion Remastered

To fix items in Oblivion Remastered, you must have a repair hammer item, which you can find in locked chests and barrels. You can open locked chests using the lockpicking tool, but the guards can stop you if they catch you breaking a lock or stealing an item. You can also get it legally by purchasing the repair hammer from Blacksmiths and Traders in the city.
Once you have a repair hammer, open your inventory by pressing I on your keyboard and navigate to the Miscellaneous tab to locate the item. Now, you can open the repair hammer to see all the eligible weapons or armor that have lost their durability. Here’s the kicker, though: each time you use your repair hammer, it has a chance of breaking. So, you can complete the repair, but then you have to find another one to fix your future weapons and items.
While you can’t use repair hammers when you’re near enemies, you can also teleport using the map to City Market to visit shops with traders and blacksmiths. Give a little bit of gold coins in exchange for gaining durability points on your gear. Based on the condition of your weapon or armor, they’ll give you a price to make it new, and you can pay that amount to get your work done.

Here is a table listing all Armorer bonus perks for repairing your tools in Oblivion Remastered:
Armorer Skill | Required Level | Bonus perk |
---|---|---|
Novice | Starting | Repair non-magic equipment using repair hammers. |
Apprentice | 25 | Repair hammers now last twice as long compared to before. |
Journeyman | 50 | Magic items can now be repaired. |
Expert | 75 | You can repair items beyond their highest condition. These weapons do extra damage, and armor extra extra defense, but it doesn’t increase their base value. |
Master | 100 | Repair hammers never break, and you can use a single one multiple times. |
To level up the Armorer minor skill, make sure to repair weapons and armor using your repair hammers or just pay the blacksmith some to shine your existing items. You can fix your tools or even repair the ones on your fallen enemies’ backpacks to quickly gain the bonus perks and have a reliable way of repairing your gear in Oblivion Remastered. You can also visit the Armorer Trainers like Eitar in Leyawiin on the map and increase your levels to get the bonus. There are multiple trainers that you can find across different regions, and they’ll help you improve your gear durability without wasting your repair hammers.
