Ray Gun Mark 2-R

The Long-Range Rot-Blight Firing Marksman Variant

Upon upgrading the Ray Gun Mark 2 at the Garden Pond, players will now have a yellow variant to call their own. While it’s a cool weapon, the Ray Gun Mark 2-R quickly becomes more situational than a primary weapon, since it has a significantly lower rate of fire than the other two models. On top of the low fire rate, the Ray Gun Mark 2-R is also mainly used as a marksman rifle, meaning players are going to want to keep distance to fire accurate shots into their enemies – so this variant is still decent, but not to players who are fighting off hordes of undead without keeping the distance.

There are still advantages to the Ray Gun Mark 2-R, like how its range means it’s effective at taking out Parasites to stop them from creating Doppelghasts. This weapon also has great damage, and on the high rounds, that’s going to be great against Elder Disciples and the growing strength of zombies, paired only further by the toxic fumes that occasionally release upon killing a zombie to make those affected by it take damage over time.

Ray Gun Mark 2-P

A Shotgun Variant With a Chance of Invulnerability

The Ray Gun Mark 2-P is the purple variant that can be upgraded via the Director’s Quarters. Upon upgrading to this variant, players are going to notice the difference in power compared to the other elements, so long as they are up close and personal. The Ray Gun Mark 2-P is a shotgun variant, meaning it benefits more from close-range engagements, which is going to be pretty easy to find when one considers that all zombies sprint towards players to try and hit them.

COD Zombies: Best Cut Content That Should Return

COD Zombies has a plethora of cut content throughout Treyarch’s history with the series, but what interesting pieces deserve to return?

Having the Ray Gun Mark 2-P is extremely reliable for those always on the move, since it’s a variant that, when Pack-a-Punched, can shred through zombies that have gotten too close and are currently blocking off the escape route. With a rapid-fire mode with a shotgun spread, the Ray Gun Mark 2-P is great, even if it’s lacking in both magazine size and ammunition. However, when cornered, killing a zombie has a chance to drop a purple sigil that players can stand in to negate damage, allowing them to hold their ground a little longer.

Ray Gun Mark 2-W

The Fully Automatic Wraith Fire Model

The undisputed king of the Ray Gun Mark 2 models is the Ray Gun Mark 2-W. This variant can be crafted from the Supply Depot, and it’s one that players certainly are not going to miss. With this blue variant in hand, players are going to throw away the three-round-burst model of the original, and instead have a fully-automatic Ray Gun Mark 2 that certainly doesn’t hold back. It has the magazine size and the rate of fire of a submachine gun, providing the fastest and most effective damage per second for rapid zombie kills.

With its fast fire rate and its hefty ammo size, players are going to be tearing through zombies with ease in the high rounds. There’s also the Wraith Fire ammo mod, meaning that occasional rapid kills with the Ray Gun Mark 2-W will spawn a blue flame on the ground that scorches and kills zombies that walk through it. With high damage, great ammo reserves, and a high rate of fire (even without Double Tap Root Beer), this variant truly becomes the best there is at killing zombies.
