Call of Duty season three continues to take us on a trip down memory lane with the Black Ops Tribute event in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Following the release of Verdansk, it’s now time to pay tribute to the legacy of the Black Ops series. This limited-time event is packed with throwback rewards, including the fan-favorite Nail Gun and a much-requested operator skin.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Black Ops Tribute event in BO6 and Warzone.
Black Ops Tribute event dates
The event runs for nearly two weeks, starting on April 17 and wrapping up on May 1—so there’s plenty of time to grind in CoD and rack up the rewards.
All Black Ops Tribute event rewards and challenges
Just like recent events, it’s all about stacking up XP whether in BO6 multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone. And if you own Black Ops 6, you’ll score some exclusive extra rewards tied to MP or Zombies.
Here’s a full list of the rewards and how much XP you’ll need to grab each one.

How to unlock Nail Gun in BO6 and Warzone
The Nail Gun returns in Black Ops 6 and Warzone as a special weapon that is very lethal at close range. Activision provides this description for the weapon:
“Stick it to them with this handy tool configured with a magazine of 15 nails that fires at full auto. The damage drops off quickly after 25 meters and performs best up close. The Nail Gun’s low muzzle velocity can make it difficult to land shots against fast moving targets, so get them in your sights and unload before they know what hit them.”
The Nail Gun is a mastery reward in the Black Ops Tribute event. To unlock it, you need to obtain a total of 617,000 XP during the event. Once unlocked, you can use it in multiplayer, Zombies, and battle royale.
How to unlock John Black Ops operator in BO6
Unlike the flashy, colorful operators we’ve seen in recent CoD games, the John Black Ops operator keeps it sleek and serious with a bold black design, rocking a gray jumpsuit, tactical goggles, and a helmet. Like the Nail Gun, the John Black Ops operator is a mastery reward that you can unlock for free by racking up 617,000 XP during the Black Ops Tribute event.
But heads up, Warzone players—there’s a catch. This badass operator is only up for grabs if you own Black Ops 6, so free-to-play folks are out of luck this time.
