One main attraction was Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker in the fifth episode, “Shadow Warrior.” Christensen is set to return in Season 2, and another fan-favorite will join him.

Hayden Christensen is willing to explore Anakin’s story further and will reprise the role in the upcoming second season of Ahsoka.

Last week, Star Wars fans, actors, and show creators reunited in Tokyo, Japan, for the Star Wars Celebration. At the event, Filoni shared more details about Ahsoka Season 2, especially on who will return. He also named several characters who will have longer screen time in Season 2. According to him, Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), Ezra (Eman Esfandi), and Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) are all returning, and fans will see more of them. For Hera, in particular, she will be “much more directly part of the action,” per Filoni. However, he is bringing another fan-favorite – Chopper. According to the series creator, the audience has been requesting to see more of the adorable and funny droid. He said at the event shared on Star Wars’ X account:

Because you guys made such a big deal about it, I put a lot more Chopper in. And so…yes, a lot more Chopper.

Chopper is voiced by Filoni, and fans love the Ghost crew’s astromech droid because of the chaotic energy he brings. He is Hera’s loyal companion and co-pilot. Unlike the polite R2-D2, Chopper has his own personality. He is sassy, noisy, menacing in a fun way, and sometimes unhinged, which makes him hilarious. He also growls, grumbles, and even argues in droid-speak, which makes fans laugh. Filoni voicing Chopper wasn’t part of the plan, and they kept it a secret by recording Chopper’s lines after all the actors had left. Most only learned about the voice behind Chopper in the after-credit scene of the finale. According to Filoni, they had to deliver the first short to Disney and had no final voice for Chopper, so he had to voice the droid for Lucasfilm’s editorial. He already had in mind how Chopper should be, and Disney’s Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger loved it (via Futurism).

I knew what a likable jerk is like and what I wanted him to be like. Then, when we screened it, [Disney boss] Bob Iger said, ‘I really like that little droid.’ And I was like, ‘Well, now I’m stuck.’

Inserting More Of The Fan-Favorite Droid Can Only Be A Positive Turn Of Events For Ahsoka

Chopper made his debut in the animated television series Star Wars: Rebels (2014). He was introduced as part of the Ghost crew, serving as their astromech droid, and he already had that grumpy and chaotic personality, which made him the comic relief. Although he is unpredictable and can be sarcastic and grouchy, he is fiercely loyal and skilled. Chopper is a ship maintenance, slicer, co-pilot and combat assistant. He made his live-action debut in Ahsoka Season 1 to the delight of fans. Chopper has since become a fan favorite due to his unfiltered personality. He is the type who will flip you off and then save your life minutes later.

Despite acting like a cranky old man who pushes other droids off ships when they annoy him, Chopper is a helpful and reliable robot. He has saved the Ghost crew multiple times in his own chaotic and reckless way. His zero patience and sass are among the things fans love about him. Surprisingly, even if he speaks his droid language, his fans understand him. Yes, he is grumpy, but you can’t stop loving him because he is entertaining and hilarious. Overall, Chopper gives off that rude but lovable vibe. This might sound confusing, but that’s the exact element fans love about him. You don’t understand Chopper, but you kind of get him.

Ahsoka is available for streaming on Disney+.
