Marvel Rivals has given players a first look at the patch notes for an update coming to the popular hero shooter on April 24. NetEase Games recently released Season 2 of Marvel Rivals, which added Emma Frost as a Vanguard and teased the appearance of the villain Ultron.

While there’s no official release date for Ultron in Marvel Rivals yet, NetEase Games has stated that the villain will arrive with a major mid-season update. This is similar to how Human Torch and The Thing were released in Season 1: Eternal Night Falls. It’s expected that Ultron will make his debut as a Strategist, meaning that he will be able to heal allies and provide support to teammates. However, this information has not been confirmed by NetEase Games. Instead, fans have been looking to a popular leaker who revealed Ultron’s ability kit back in December 2024.

Marvel Rivals Fans Aren’t Happy About Recent Changes to Ranked Matches

Marvel Rivals players are asking NetEase Games to revert a recent change it made to ranked matches in the popular hero shooter.

In a recent post on Twitter, NetEase Games shared a new set of patch notes for an update coming to Marvel Rivals on April 24. Most notably, the patch will include Marvel Rivals’ new game mode, Giant-Size Brain Blast. The fresh mode will give all the title’s heroes a humorous bobble-head appearance during matches. The trailer for Giant-Size Brain Blast began with Captain America’s head suddenly growing larger, followed by Spider-Man, Loki, Moon Knight, and Venom. Gameplay footage then showed the big-headed heroes facing off against one another on the battlefield. This new game mode is something of a departure from previous ones, as the “gimmick” this time around seems to be purely aesthetic.

The patch also houses numerous bug fixes for the game’s many heroes, including a correction for Marvel Rivals‘ Emma Frost, as her Carbon Crush attack would sometimes throw people underground or off the map entirely. The developers have also fixed an issue that would prevent Invisible Woman’s Guardian Shield from recharging correctly. According to NetEase Games, there will be no downtime related to the patch. So, once it’s released, fans will just need to restart their games to keep playing.

The update will also include new skins for Loki and Hela in Marvel Rivals, which will be released in the hero shooter’s shop on April 24 at 7 PM PDT. Both skins are inspired by Kirisaki Mountain, a popular location often used by Marvel. Loki and Hela can be seen sporting Japanese-themed attire with a white and green color scheme. With a new update just around the corner and even more content on the way, many people are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
