My Hero Academia: 8 Best Quirks For Mobility, Ranked

Summary

  • Mobility is crucial for heroes and villains in My Hero Academia to evade attacks and surprise opponents.
  • Quirks like Fa Jin and Engine provide speed boosts for quick offensive strikes and reliable messaging.
  • Blackwhip, Explosion, and Hawks’ wings are used creatively to enhance mobility and outmaneuver opponents.

Most heroes in the world of My Hero Academia will be happy to possess a Quirk that can bolster either their offensive power or defensive capabilities, but mobility is also crucially important. As has been seen plenty of times in the story, it’s impossible to tell what sort of unique ability a villain is hiding up their sleeves just by looking at them, meaning they can easily take a hero by surprise, and if their own Quirk doesn’t allow them to evade fast enough, things can end up going downhill very quickly.

My Hero Academia: 8 Villains Who Made The Biggest Impact On The Story, Ranked

My Hero Academia’s world is packed full of dangerous villains, but these have been the ones who have had the biggest impact on the main story.

The same applies to the villains, too, who are all fully aware of the immense power possessed by the likes of Endeavor or Hawks, and will therefore utilize their mobility-based Quirks to avoid being wiped out in the blink of an eye by the heroes of justice. Though many of these Quirks can also be used to dish out damage, when looking primarily at speed and overall mobility, these are the abilities seen throughout My Hero Academia that rank as among the best for giving the user a boost. Before jumping in, this list will contain spoilers up until the end of season 7 of the anime.

8

Frog

Tsuyu Uses Her Tongue To Reach High Vantage Points And Hiding Areas

As the name implies, Tsuyu’s Quirk grants the student all the abilities of a frog, meaning she can not only stick to walls, but also use her tongue as both a weapon and a grappling hook. Since Tsuyu isn’t much of a fighter, she more so suits a supportive role when taking to the battlefield, as seen in the U.S.J. arc, where she quickly pulls Midoriya out of danger after the villains arrive.

Just like the amphibian that she’s inspired by, Tsuyu is also a great swimmer and can leap out of danger much faster than the average hero thanks to her enhanced legs and feet. Being able to land an accurate shot on Tsuyu is no easy task, considering she’s constantly on the move, and while her Quirk can be used to deal some damage now and again, it primarily revolves around boosting Tsuyu’s speed more than anything.

Blackwhip

Blackwhip Works Similarly To Spider-Man’s Webs, Allowing Heroes To Reach A Villain In Seconds

  • User: Midoriya (Previously Banjo)

During the Joint Training story arc, Midoriya’s Quirk, One For All, starts acting a little unusual. With a huge black whip sprouting from his hands and a mysterious shadowy figure trying to speak with him, he soon discovers that the previous users’ Quirks are all being passed down to him, with Banjo’s Blackwhip being the first in the queue.

My Hero Academia: 9 Best Defensive Quirks

These Quirks excel at keeping the user, and those in danger, protected from harm thanks to their defensive properties.

Similar to Spider-Man’s webs, Blackwhip can be attached to buildings or lamp posts to give the user a burst of speed by pulling themselves through the air, or to just get them airborne when there’s too much chaos on the ground level. Blackwhip has become one of Midoriya’s most useful Quirks, and one which he is more than happy to bring out whenever he needs to cover some ground as quickly as possible.

6

Jet

Gran Torino Utilized The Underlying Power Of Jet To Become A Famed Pro-Hero

When Midoriya first meets Gran Torino early on in the story, he can barely look at his new mentor for more than a few seconds before Torino starts bouncing around the room like an overflowing soda bottle. The reason this old man is able to move at such blistering speed is his Jet Quirk. Jet is one of those abilities which, while useful, is incredibly difficult to master, though as a partner to Nana Shimura and mentor of All Might, he has had more than enough time to make it work for him.

By pushing out high-pressure air from his feet, Gran Torino can move so fast that keeping track of him in a battle can become more or less impossible for a villain when he’s fully healthy. Not someone to sit by idly when he sees a fight going down, Torino will occasionally use his speed to score a few hits on his opponents, but it can be just as useful for avoiding damage, too.

5

Explosion

Bakugo Has Used His Quirk In Some Pretty Creative Ways To Enhance His Overall Speed

Bakugo’s Explosion Quirk is one of the most powerful in the entire series when it comes to offensive power, but it can also help the user pick up the pace. By shooting out explosions behind him, Bakugo can propel himself through the air without breaking a sweat, and if he unleashes one of his Cluster attacks, he can become a tricky target for a villain to pin down.

Of course, there’s always going to be at least a little collateral damage left behind whenever Bakugo decides to unleash his Quirk, but on the other hand, it does also mean he can intercept a group of villains much faster than most, thanks to the speed. At first, Bakugo may have only wanted to cause as much damage as possible with his Quirk, but upon acknowledging the responsibilities of being a hero, and the importance of protecting those in need whenever they need help, he came to understand how it could be used as a form of mobility too.

4

Hawks

The Charismatic And Cocky Number 2 Hero Wastes No Time Diving Into Battle

It makes sense that a Quirk which grants a person a giant pair of wings would improve their speed, but Hawks has refined his ability to such a degree that he can usually clean up a crime scene without the villains even suspecting a thing in no more than a few seconds. In his fight against the dangerous High-end Nemu in the Pro-Hero Arc, for example, Hawks shoots himself through the sky when he tries to reach Endeavor, getting to him in the blink of an eye, which gives an idea of just how nimble this Pro-Hero truly is.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has a great cast of core characters, so let’s go through their ages, heights, and birthdays.

Unfortunately, Hawks’ Quirk would be severely weakened by Dabi, and later stolen entirely by All For One. With that being said, though, Hawks’ savvy skills as a spy, paired with his absurdly fast Quirk, made him one of the most feared heroes for a long while in the eyes of many villains.

3

Fa Jin

Fa Jin Gives A Hero One Crucial Moment To Pull Off A Quick And Deadly Strike

  • User: Midoriya (Previously Bruce)

Similar to Blackwhip, Fa Jin is a Quirk that Midoriya acquired once the vestiges of One For All had awakened, but it’s fair to say the plucky young hero has caused some serious damage with this fast and deadly ability. The way it works is, the user can use a repeated movement to store up kinetic energy, which can then be unleashed either as an attack or as a way to gain a sudden jolt of speed.

The ability is scarily fast, with Midoriya using it to help outrun Lady Nagant’s bullets before delivering a lethal Faux 100% attack, where he was moving at the same speed as One For All at its maximum power. Midoriya may only receive Fa Jin fairly late on in the story, but he makes it clear to fans just how useful it can be for escaping, or diving into, dangerous situations.

2

Engine

Ida Becomes The Heroes’ Most Reliable Messenger Thanks To His Insane Speed

On each of Ida’s calves are engines which can propel him forward as he moves, and though he was only able to sprint short distances in the early arcs, it’s not long before he becomes so fast that he even struggles to slow himself down when going full-gear.

With the Recipro Turbo enhancement, Ida is able to travel at light speed, making him the go-to hero for rescue missions, considering how quickly he can get his allies in and out of battle. In fact, Ida would eventually be able to reach Mach 3 and beyond, and while it’s not easy to control, Engine is still a Quirk that excels at keeping the user fast on their feet to avoid any incoming damage from dangerous villains.

1

One For All

All Might Was Reaching Frankly Absurd Speeds In His Prime, Which Is A Big reason Why He Was So Dependable

  • User: Midoriya (Previously All Might, Nana, En, Banjo, Hikage, Bruce, Kudo, Yoichi)

Despite being way past his prime when he shows up in the main series, All Might is still more than happy to launch himself halfway across an entire city if it means saving even a single civilian from danger. During a flashback with Nighteye, it’s shown that All Might was solving a new case more or less every few seconds, and the reason he’s able to move like this is because of how his body has augmented and fused with One For All.

One For All’s power and strength boost is one thing, but the mobility it provides is also a huge boon, at least for those who can use it without breaking their body in two due to all the pressure that comes with the ability. All For One would even mock All Might for taking a little over 30 seconds to reach him from the bar, which was 5 kilometers away, and this was when he only had the final embers of One For All burning inside of him. Midoriya has stated that All Might is said to be faster than a bullet, but from the small glimpses that have been shown from his shining moments in the spotlight, his Quirk probably allowed him to be even faster than this in his prime.
