Nintendo Switch 2 Confirms Yet Another Launch Title

Sonic X Shadow Generations is now officially a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. The latest Nintendo Direct event focused entirely on the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing the console’s unique features, release date, and some of its games. Post-Direct, a lineup of 21 launch games were confirmed for the Switch 2, with the next-generation console set to release alongside some pretty heavy hitters.

Nintendo Switch 2 launch titles include Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, Mario Kart World, Split Fiction, Street Fighter 6, Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and more. Longtime Nintendo partner Sega has confirmed five games for the Switch 2 so far, and has now revealed yet another launch title for the system.

Switch 2 Update May Be Good News for Cloud Saves

Nintendo updates some Switch 2 game listings on its website, potentially clarifying an earlier misunderstanding about how cloud saves work.

Sega has confirmed that Sonic X Shadow Generations will launch for Switch 2 when the console releases on June 5. Sonic X Shadow Generations is a remaster of the 2011 Sonic Generations, but with a brand-new storyline starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic X Shadow Generations earned mostly positive reviews, and it should make for a great addition to the Switch 2 launch lineup.

This brings the total number of Switch 2 launch games up to 22 at the time of this writing, with three of those games from Sega. Besides Sonic X Shadow Generations, Sega is also bringing Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut to the Switch 2 at launch. Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army and Two Point Museum are also in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, but their release dates are still TBA.

The Switch 2’s release date is still over a month away, and so it’s entirely possible that more games will be confirmed for the launch lineup. Nintendo itself is unlikely to reveal any more launch games, though, so those interested in first-party releases will have to be satisfied with Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.
