AMC’s The Walking Dead: Dead City will return with its second season in only a couple of weeks, but before all of that, a new behind-the-scenes teaser shows off Negan and the return of another popular and beloved character that Jeffery Dean Morgan can’t stop gushing over. For fans of the spin-off who have been missing the zombie action from its stars, Jeffery Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, TWD: Dead City will make its way back on May 4.
In the post-apocalyptic show’s latest trailer, the love/hate relationship between Negan and Maggie has yet again ignited, where the duo have teamed up to crack open some zombie skulls and take back control of the overrun city, all accompanied by the dreamy sounds of Rosemary Clooney’s song, Manhattan, as sweeping shots of New York are showcased. The previous trailer from last year showcased Negan returning to his old ways as he could be seen whistling that creepy tune as well as being reunited with his bat, Lucille. Now, Dead City fans get a sneak peek at the next set of episodes and the return of Negan’s most loyal partner: his bat, Lucille, as AMC shares a short clip of the bloodthirsty baseball bat getting safely returned into the capable hands of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, who now feels ready to take on the world with her finally by his side.

The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan Discusses the Bond Between Negan and Lucille in Dead City Season 2
Even though many eyes are on the return of another post-apocalyptic series on HBO right now, there’s always room for all things The Walking Dead. In the spin-off series, Maggie and Negan headed off to Manhattan together to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel, from The Croat, which also saw Negan being hunted by a lawman called Armstrong. Now, as Season 2 peaks over the horizon, including a new Dead City poster, the show’s behind-the-scenes teaser showcases Negan and one of the series’ most cruel and sinister characters being reunited. In the clip, Croat returns Lucille to Negan, with Negan then holding the barbed wire bat, saying, “On your knees.”
Jeffery Dead Morgan talked about being so attached to Lucille that he won’t let anyone else hold her. “So there are people who always rush up to say, ‘Jeff, can we take Lucille?’ No, I got it.” Morgan also talks about his Lucille tattoo that he got, and even though his real-life wife, Hilarie Burton, played Lucille in the show, unfortunately for her, the tattoo is actually dedicated to the bat. “I’ve never had a prop in my life as an actor that felt so innately mine and feels like an extension of the character and me personally. I adore her,” gushed Morgan.
“To have Lucille back, that’s when Negan is at his most Negan.”
Morgan also talks about The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 being “a new step in a direction that we haven’t gone before. It’s going to be great. Let’s frigging go.” Even though we all know that Maggie’s husband Glenn was savagely beaten to death by Negan in TWD, Maggie sought the help of the charming and sarcastic baddie in rescuing her son, Hershel. After her son was finally rescued, Negan had to stay behind, and this is where viewers will pick up from in Season 2. Fans are already worried that Negan and Maggie could develop a romantic relationship, as bizarre as that sounds, so who knows what the duo will get up to when May 4 rolls around?
