One Piece’s Elbaf arc felt surreal right from the get-go, as some massively important characters finally made their move, such as the Holy Knights. More than that, Oda started making more bold moves than ever before, as he dropped some absolutely massive lore, like the Harley texts, for instance, and teased the end of the series more than ever before. Clearly, One Piece is not going to end anytime soon, but slowly and steadily, the series is moving closer to its end, and that is what Oda reminded the fans of once again in One Piece chapter 1146.

Gunko, who seems to have a ton of information pertaining to Nika, essentially confirmed that the countdown to the final war is going down currently and that the war is about to begin. This war, according to Gunko, will lead to the end of the world. She believes the world was supposed to end out of absolutely nowhere, but thanks to the efforts of Clover, Olvia, and Vegapunk, the world is now heading toward an inevitable war that will engulf the whole world.

For those who don’t remember, this is the same war that Whitebeard spoke of during the Paramount War. This war is going to turn the world upside down and these things absolutely cannot be stopped.

When Will The Great War Finally Begin?

The Great War Of One Piece Hasn’t Begun Yet

According to what Gunko said, preparations are being made for the beginning of the Great War. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The preparations for the Great War have actually been made ever since the Reverie arc of One Piece. Now that Nika has descended upon the world, the war is edging closer than ever before. Gunko also states that right now, it’s almost as if we are in a countdown phase. In other words, the Great War will begin after the Elbaf arc. As to how long after it’ll begin, it is difficult to say.

It all depends on what approach Oda takes in the story from here onwards. Only one question needs answering and that is whether the Great War will begin before or after Luffy finds the One Piece. Logically speaking, it makes more sense for the Great War to begin after Luffy becomes the Pirate King. Without knowing the true meaning of the D, or the purpose of the Ancient Weapons, which can only happen after Luffy reaches Laugh Tale, it’ll be impossible to fight with clarity. Even Roger needed to know the truth of the world first. But, at the same time, Oda himself stated that One Piece will end after Luffy finds the treasure, so things are a bit conflicting. Still, our money is on the Great War being officially triggered after Luffy finds the One Piece, which could be anywhere between 4-5 years away from now. Although the wait seems long, the war will eventually come and shake the whole world.
