Where Can You Watch TBATE?
The Beginning After The End is streaming on Crunchyroll in most territories around the world. According to the official website, they are streaming it in countries and territories in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the CIS, South Asia/Indian subcontinent and Oceania.
However, Netflix Asia is also streaming the series in select Asian territories, like Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. These are probably places where Crunchyroll doesn’t stream the series — in fact, the company doesn’t even operate in some of them.
Netflix Asia’s schedule may differ from Crunchyroll’s schedule. However, Crunchyroll is so far the only service to add dubbing in many languages, so those watching on Netflix will only have subbed options.
TBATE Creator Speaks Up About The Anime
Since the show debuted, both longtime fans and newcomers alike have been complaining about the quality of the animation. It got to the point that the creator of the series, TurtleMe, posted about it on Reddit.
He said that he believes that everyone is doing their best, and he also hinted that he doesn’t have too many says in the production. He had previously stated that he could be more involved it the production with Studio A-Cat, but it seems that things turned out differently than he expected:
At the end of the day, there will always be creative differences in the room, but I really do believe that everyone is coming at it with their best effort and intentions.
I learned in the anime industry, it’s very rare for the creator to have a say in deciding the ins and outs when it comes to the inception of an anime. This was a growing point for me since I was so used to having control over everything regarding The Beginning After the End.
The Anime Could Make It Despite Everything
Interestingly, despite the many complaints, it seems that TBATE was the sixth most-watched show on Netflix Japan from April 7 to April 13. It didn’t make it into the top ten last week, but it is impressive that the series got so many views.
And while there are many complaints, fans are apparently still watching it and the series is still getting a lot of buzz, even if a good portion of it is negative buzz (including people already asking for a remake). Many people said that Episode 3 had better animation than the previous ones.
At the very least, it shows that there is a lot of room for this show to succeed if the production is more in line with what fans expect in the future.
