The Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will be going live in the US very soon, so interested fans should prepare accordingly. Nintendo was originally going to open Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders on April 9, but delayed its plans in the wake of the Trump administration’s tariffs. Ever since Nintendo announced the new Switch 2 pre-order date, retailers have been announcing their plans for the next-generation console. Best Buy, Target, and Walmart will start accepting Switch 2 pre-orders at 12am ET on April 24. Interested parties should be sure to sign in to their accounts on each site ahead of time and double-check that their payment information is up-to-date. GameStop, meanwhile, will begin accepting Switch 2 online pre-orders on April 24 at 11am ET. Those going to GameStop in-person will be able to pre-order the Switch 2 whenever their local store opens that day. Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Options

Ordering a Switch 2 console online does not guarantee that the system will arrive on launch day, so fans should keep that in mind. While it may not be as convenient, the best bet is likely securing a pre-order at a GameStop or Best Buy, as that way fans can pick up the consoles themselves. Some GameStop and Best Buy locations are even hosting midnight releases for the Switch 2, so fans can play the new system as soon as possible.

Amazon does not appear to be accepting Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in the US. That could change between now and launch, though.

Unfortunately, Nintendo is already struggling to meet Switch 2 demand in Japan, and it’s highly likely that a similar scenario will happen in the US. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are expected to go fast, and so fans should prepare themselves accordingly. Those that miss out on pre-ordering a Switch 2 from one of these retailers should consider signing up for a Switch 2 order invite from Nintendo. Those with 12-month Switch Online subscriptions and at least 50 hours of playtime logged on the original Switch will be given priority to order a Switch 2 console directly from Nintendo itself, with the first wave of invites going out on May 8.
