PS5 players are readying the ignition for Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5. Crossplay would allow PlayStation users to slalom through slopes with racers on other platforms, so let’s see if Playground Games has enabled crossplay and cross-platform features.
One of the positive gaming changes throughout the years has been the addition of crossplay. There was a time when PlayStation was reluctant to have PS users mingling with Xbox and PC players. This is a thing of the past as crossplay features in many multiplayer-enabled games.
Forza Horizon 5 is the debut of the racing franchise on PlayStation. If you’re a former Xbox or PC user making the jump or a PS5 fan getting in the driver’s seat for your debut, here’s everything you need to know about crossplay and cross-platform integration.
Is Forza Horizon 5 PS5 Crossplay?

Forza Horizon 5 has fully fledged crossplay integrated into its online matchmaking for users who want it.
The official PS5 Forza Horizon 5 FAQ says: “If you’re already playing the game, be sure to share the news with your PS5 friends and invite them to join us at the Horizon Festival as cross-play will be available between all platforms!“
You heard that right: “All platforms.” This means you can step into online races with a contingent of PlayStation, Xbox, and PC opponents all vying to finish first.
Crossplay is usually optional, so if you don’t want to compete against other platforms, you should have the ability to turn it off and stick to a consistent player pool on PS5.
Does Forza Horizon 5 PS5 Have Cross-Platform Progression?
Unfortunately, Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 does not support cross-platform progression, meaning you need to start anew if you’ve previously made progress on another console or PC.
The good news ends at crossplay, sadly. The FAQ addresses cross-platform progression: “No, Forza Horizon 5 for PlayStation 5 will not carry over save files from versions of the game released on other platforms. This is also the same behavior between the Xbox and Steam versions of the game, where game files are separate and not synchronized.”
You must start again if you’re playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. If you played it on Xbox or PC, you’ll need to return to the platforms to carry on your profile.
We’ve answered other important Forza Horizon 5 PS5 questions, such as if it’s available on PS4, if it has an Early Access option, and if a physical release is being manufactured.
I do wonder if this is the start of something special for PS5 players. It remains to be seen if any previous Forza Motorsport titles are PlayStation-bound. If not, any future releases can happen, giving Gran Turismo a run for its money. Is this a positive move for Forza and PS5 players? Let us know in the comments and on our Insider Gaming Forum.
